A Track Record in Improving Health and Lowering Costs
In 2004 the Board of Directors of a Fortune 200 Public Company tasked a group of senior executives with the responsibility of redesigning its group healthcare plan. For several years before the redesign the Company had been experiencing double digit health benefit expense increases - a story familiar to corporate America.
The Company had 90,000 covered plan members. It operated more than 100 facilities in a mix of rural and urban settings located in more than 25 states. What was necessary to achieve the successful redesign was an innovative approach which put employee engagement at the center of the plan.
Health and productivity programs, coupled with a commitment to employee communications at every level of the Company delivered outstanding outcomes in lowered costs, improved health and enhanced productivity. It is from these experiences that EngagementHealth™ was born.

Executive Biographies
Ted Theophilos – Chief Executive Officer
Linda Skoog-Sluman MD – Medical Director
Linda Skoog-Sluman M.D. is a board certified medical oncologist. Linda’a focus as the Medical Director of EngagementHealth will be design health promotion programs, supervising its Adherence Counselors, and interfacing with medical community. Linda graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in 1990, completed her internal medicine residency at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and followed by a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Chicago. Linda is published in several peer reviewed periodicals including the Annals of Oncology. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Paul Sollitto – Chief Financial Officer
Paul Sollitto is the CFO and Benefits subject matter expert for EngagementHealth. Paul has held senior HR positions in both the private and public sector. Working in executive level positions he has been responsible for the overall design and administration of the health and retirement plans for some of the largest group plans including those of RR Donnelley & Sons Company, the State of Illinois and True North Communications. Sollitto has over thirty years experience in the Benefits, Compensation and Human Resources area. He started his Benefits “journey” as a group insurance underwriter at CNA/Insurance. Sollitto earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from Marquette University and his MBA from Northwestern University with a specialization in Finance.
David Ryland – Chief Operating Officer
David Ryland is the Chief Operating Officer for EngagementHealth. David has spent the last 14 years developing software solutions for the health care industry. His responsibilities have ranged from design and development, to sales and implementation. In 1993 he was co-founder of Askesis Development Group, Inc. where he was COO. Askesis was sold to a healthcare conglomerate in 2002. In 2004 he co-founded and became CEO of Streamline Behavioral Healthcare Solutions, LLC. Streamline has provided innovative software solutions to behavioral healthcare payers and providers and their patients. David is a graduate of Northwestern University (B.A.).
Javed Husain – Chief Information Officer
Javed Husain’s focus is on software design and information technology. Javed has over 15 years of experience in software design and development. Javed is the founder of Streamline Healthcare Solutions, LLC where he oversaw the development of HIPAA compliant integrated clinical and billing systems for the behavioral healthcare market. Javed was also one of the founders of Askesis Development Group Inc. At Askesis, Javed led the development of multiple software products for the behavioral healthcare market. Javed started his career working at The Revere Group consulting for clients such as A. C. Nielsen and Office1 Superstores. Javed has a Bachelor of Technology in Production Engineering and Management from National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India and a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Florida.
Pat Hamalis – Director of Adherence Counseling
Pat Hamalis serves in the role of Director of Adherence Counseling for EngagementHealth. Pat brings 16 years of nursing, research and health promotion experience. Her professional roles have included eleven years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, five years as a Critical Care Nurse. During this period Pat was active in both the areas of research and teaching. Most recently, Pat was the Director at the Women’s Care Center at Elmhurst College where she also served as a clinical supervisor to graduate nursing students from LoyolaUniversity. Pat is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago where she received her PhD in Nursing. In addition, Pat received her MS in Nursing from Boston College, her BS in Nursing from Loma Linda University and her BS from Mount St. Mary’s College.
Andrew Panega – Executive Vice President of Client Implementation
Andy Panega is responsible for Client Implementation at EngagementHealth. As such, he will be working in depth with employers and plan sponsors who subscribe to EngagementHealth services. Andy has held executive Human Resource positions with various Fortune 500 companies in his career, including RR Donnelley in Chicago IL and Detroit MI, General Mills in Minneapolis MN and Buffalo NY, Dun & Bradstreet in Tampa FL, and Kelly Services in Detroit MI. As EVP, Chief Human Resource Officer with RR Donnelley, Andy was responsible for overseeing all Human Resource-related activities for R.R. Donnelley’s 63,000 employees throughout the world. A native of Chicago, Andy graduated from Western Illinois University with an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. Additionally, Andy taught Strategic Management and Labor Relations undergraduate programs at Western Illinois University.
